How Does This Work?

About The Blog:

This is a standard Blogger blog, with no add-on code, using a standard "Picture Window" Designer template..  There are two Blogger features which are used here.

• Custom Permalinks
• Custom Redirects

About The Features Used:

The Custom Permalinks feature lets you maintain the video posts, published to predictable URLs.

This demo shows 3 videos, each video contained in one video post.  Each video post

• Has an identical Title - "My Videos".
• Is published to the label "Videos".
• Uses a Custom Permalink.

The first video post has a custom permalink of "Videos-1", giving it a URL

Each video post has a row of 3 buttons, or tabs, at the top.  Each tab is simply text (of one colour), and a background (of another colour).  The active (selected) tab has a blue background, the inactive tabs (not selected) each have a green background.  Each of the inactive tabs have a link to the other post, as indicated in the caption text.

Video Post 1, for instance, contains Video 1.  Video Post 1 has 3 tabs, with tab 1 being active (blue background) - and tabs 2 and 3 inactive (green background).  Tabs 2 and 3 then contain links to Video Posts 2 and 3, respectively.

The Custom Redirects feature is used to make the non video posts appear on the home page of the blog.  Each non video post

• Has its own unique title.
• Is published to the label "Posts".
• Uses a default permalink.

About The Layout:

The tab row, at the top, contains 3 tabs.

The 3 tabs are created by the Pages editor.

The Posts tab is the "Home" tab, renamed.  The Home page uses "Custom Redirects" to redirect "/" to "/search/label/Posts" - and indexes all non video posts.

The Video tab is a "Web address" tab, with a target URL

When you select "Videos", you will see Video 1.  From Video 1, you can select either "Video 2" or "Video 3".
